Open/Power League Team (Power League & Regional are now simply
'Open')
This is the highest level of play in the New England Region. Teams that wish to
play in the Power League must qualify by playing in a qualifying Tournament.
Only 12 teams at the 16-and-under age level and 12 teams at the 18-and-under
age level will qualify to play in the Power League. Teams in this League will
have the opportunity to play teams that are based outside of New England (i.e.
New Jersey, New York). Some tournaments are played on Saturday as well as
Sunday. Some tournaments are two day events; Saturday and Sunday.
Open/Regional Team (Power League & Regional are now simply 'Open')
This is the next highest level of play in the New England Region. Teams must
also play in qualifying Tournaments to be able to play at this level. There are
more than just the 16-and-under and 18-and-under age groups at the 'Regional'
level.
Local Teams compete in tournaments around New England against other 'Local'
teams.
A - This is the highest level within the Local Teams.
B - This is the intermediate level within the Local Teams.
C - This is the novice level within the Local Teams.
Note: Throughout the season teams can be moved, depending on their
success at tournaments, from one level to another. This is to keep the
competition at an even level of play throughout the season.
Shuttle Squad
The 'Shuttle Squad' has been established to
accommodate those players that fall into the following categories:
1) Can not commit to playing tournaments, but still want to
learn more about volleyball by participating in practices.
2) Are not quite at the appropriate ability level (this
season) to play at their required JO age level.
Players on the 'Shuttle Squad' will practice with
Teams at their commensurate level of ability. If, during the course the
season, a tournament team is going to be short players at a specific
tournament, then a 'Shuttle Squad' player may be invited to join the
team at that tournament.
